What can you do to help?

Covid Help on Twitter: Follow this, check every day. Offer help if you can. Re-tweet messages for wider reach.

https://twitter.com/WeAreBangalore

Offer to call numbers to get help

The patient/family will be very stressed. Offer to call multiple numbers to get tests/oxygen/any other help they need. Calling numbers is a big task, you may need to call many to find something that works - spare the patient and their family this stress. Time is key here - so you could save lives.

Cheer Up Patients

Covid patients are isolated. And often depressed, low. Do what you can to cheer them up. Also the caregivers - they are also super-stressed, remember that.

Form Covid Task Forces

In your communities, offices. People who are on stand-by to help. A lot of the time the help needed is just to make phone calls. Which could save lives.

Food/Groceries etc

Offer to cook/deliver food

To Be Prepared

Disclaimer: This is just compiled information from various people, and based on common sense and personal experience. Not a medical doctor's advice, and it is not a complete list.

Pulse Oxymeter

FIRSTLY: Buy a Pulse Oxymeter to check oxygen saturation many times a day. This is a small device with a slot to keep your finger in, and it will read your oxygen levels and pulse rate. Available in all medical shops. Around 3000-4000 rupees usually.

This could save your life. If your oxygen starts falling, you know it is time to get medical help. For normal healthy people it will be around 97-99, lesser for asthmatics.

A delay in getting medical attention at this point is what they say causes a lot of death.

Note: Just because your oxygen looks great, it does not mean you don't have Covid. It could just mean that Covid hasn't impacted your lungs. My brother had Covid, and throughout his oxygen was at a high of 98.

Health

Stay in good health. This is your best bet towards better immunity.

  • Eat healthy food, one that balances any current medical condition. Consult a good nutritionist. These people changed my life! Have been following the diet they recommended, for 2 years now. https://quanutrition.com/. Have branches across India, and teleconsultation.
  • Do some form of exercise, at least walking for 30 mins a day.
  • Learn breathing techniques, Pranayaama. This also helps you calm down. Loads of stuff online.
  • Try  not to fall ill with anything else, because you will have to go to a hospital. Be super-careful. Don't slip and fall.
  • Use a mouthwash regularly, brush teeth twice. Could avoid a dentist visit.
